Services at the UW-Madison Chemistry Library

Overview

In addition to the campus-wide services offered to the UW-Madison community, the Chemistry Library offers specialized services to campus patrons in chemistry.

Current Awareness Profile

The Chemistry Library offers free weekly searches for faculty, staff and graduate students in the Chemistry Department. Your search profile(s) is run each week in Science Citation Index and results are sent to you via email. Free weekly searches of Engineering Index, INSPEC (Physics/Electrical & Electronics/Computers), and PubMed are also available. We will set up an account for you or teach you how to set up your own personal account.

Reference

  • The goal of the Chemistry Library reference service is to provide accurate, timely, and complete reference/information in support of the teaching, learning, and research needs of the UW-Madison library community. When appropriate, reference staff will provide instruction in the use of reference resources to enable independent use of reference resources. Each inquiry shall receive equitable attention and effort, regardless of affiliation or individual differences within the limits of time, staffing, available resources, and professional judgment of reference staff. The Chemistry Library strives to maintain a standard, up-to-date chemistry reference collection. Accuracy of information cannot be guaranteed due to limitations of resources or the knowledge of the individual librarian. It is the responsibility of the library user to evaluate and interpret the information provided.

Library Instruction
